Ball Watch was in the house. Jamie Knight was stellar up in North Georgia. Here's a race report from Julie Walker:
Please congratulate Jamie when you see him. He went with me to Georgia to race this weekend for his first out of state road biking experience. He qualified in the morning Cat 3 race with a 6th place finish out of 100 guys. He pulled off a 14th place finish in the Athens Twilight Amatuer race which is more of an accomplishment than you may realize. Sunday he continued with two more very impressive finishes. He finished 2nd in the Cat 3/4 race with over 100 guys, and we think 10 or 11th in the Cat 2/3 race which had over a 100 guys starting as well. He is still using junior gearing, so Sunday's finishes on a 250 meter downhill sprint were amazing. All of us should be very proud of him. It definitely seems that if he stays focused, he has what it takes.
Thanks Julie!
Down south in Ft Lauderdale it was the Kurt Phllips show-- 11th at Vista View and 7th in Ft Lauderdale. The Bullet is slowly dialing it in! This was the Z-Motion Weekend and it was spot on! Sunday featured a VIP pit for racers, replete with food and beverages! What a tremendous job from the Z-motion outfit! As if top 15 placings all around weren't enough, the boys--Kevin Parker, Kurt Phillips, Bradley Jefferson--turned around and did the pro race and beat half the field...Overall, 2.30 hours of South Florida Crit racing--70 miles in one day! Not bad! Mike Hall was the athlete of the weekend though showing his form is coming back around with an enormous effort to pull back a crucial breakaway attempt from several of Floridas strongest teams!
Racing resumes in three weeks at Ball Watch's own Lakeland Twilight Criterium and the Florida Criterium Championships.
