Polk Cycling Classic a Huge Success!

Kudos to Kurt and Chris for putting on one of the best races of the year. Part of running a team such as ours is promoting races. The dynamic duo of Kurt Phillips and Chris Bishop did an awesome job of providing Florida racers and participants in the Florida Points Series a venue to remember. The course featured fast, winding downhills, brutal lakeside crosswinds and a quarter mile climb up to the finish. The setting was a ridge that ran between two lakes--picturesque and spectator friendly to say the least! The developer of the property provided racers and their families with free hotdogs, chips and soft drinks. I can say from personal experience that the hotdogs were first class--i ate three! They also provided a clubhouse to relax in and a swimming pool.
The racing was magnificent in every class and Ball Watch represented well at its own event. In the masters race, Vance James finished 6th with Kurt Phillips and Kevin Parker rounding out the top 20. In the cat three race Derek Phillips finished 9th and Bradley Jefferson finished 13th. Vance James also raced the Pro race and finished an impressive 14th.
Racing will resume next week in downtown Tampa at its inaugural twilight event followed by a criterium race in Pinellas Park on Sunday.
Again, big thanks to Kurt Phillips and his crew from Citrus Sports Cycling and the Ball Watch cyling team for a great event in the heart of Central Florida and the rolling hills of Polk County!
